What makes a company truly professional and successful in creating long-term value?

On 7 October 2026, I attended the MGYOSZ conference “The Impact of Efficiency Improvements on Corporate Value – Stock Market Examples.”

Two panel discussions particularly resonated with me and reinforced my professional beliefs.

The “Professionalising Business Operations” discussion highlighted the importance of MINDSET. The "From Multinational to Hungarian Company” panel made me reflect on what can motivate a leader moving from a multinational to a Hungarian-owned company with different challenges: building systems, improving operations and creating VALUE through their own work – while inspiring colleagues to contribute to a thriving organisation.

Throughout my career, I have gained experience in both multinational companies and Hungarian SMEs. From my perspective as a legal, compliance and corporate governance professional, both environments offer valuable lessons in building professional and sustainable businesses.

The structured processes, risk management, internal controls and clearly defined responsibilities common in multinational companies can also benefit Hungarian businesses – provided they are adapted to each organisation’s size, culture and business needs.

But one important condition remains:

Systems alone are not enough.

A policy only works when people understand its purpose.

Compliance creates value when it supports sound business decisions. Corporate governance is effective when accountability and leading by example become part of the corporate culture.

Professionalising a Hungarian company does not mean turning it into a multinational.

It means operating more consciously, continuously improving processes and building a sustainable, value-creating organisation together with its people.

Because professional operations are about more than systems and processes. They start with a conscious mindset and a strong corporate culture – at every size company and every level of the organisation.
